Facing the World is honored to have an extensive team of experienced surgeons and other specialists who volunteer their services to the treatment of our patients.

The majority of our patients see only the representatives from the specialties listed below. However when required we have been privileged to work with other experts from cardiologists to geneticists; dermatologists and tropical diseases experts and many other specialties. We have only listed the senior consultants who are intimately connected with the charity. This in no way undermines the extensive contribution offered by many, many other specialists, registrars, junior doctors, nurses and others.

CRANIOFACIAL

 

Mr. Norman Waterhouse, (Co-founder) MD, FRCS, FRCS(Plast)
is a past president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic surgery and previous head of the Craniofacial Unit at The Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Noman teaches and lectures both nationality and internationality. His experiences volunteering internationally were part of the inspiration behind the charity.

 

 

 Mr. Martin Kelly, (Co-founder) MD, FRCS, FRCS(Plast)
is a Consultant Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. Having worked as a volunteer in Afganistan and Cambodia, Martin was struck by the challenge of leaving patients untreated as a result of the lack of local infrastructure or the need for a multidisciplinary team. These experiences led to him co-founding the charity with Norman Waterhouse.

 

Mr Niall Kirkpatrick, BDS MB BS MD FRCS(Eng) FRCS(Plast)

is a previous President of the Plastic Surgery Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.He is a Consultant Craniofacial Plastic Surgeon, having qualified in both Medicine and Dentistry. He is head of the Craniofacial & Orbito-Palpebral Surgery Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, and also a member of the multidisciplinary Head and Neck cancer team at the Charing Cross Hospital, London.

  

Mr. David Dunaway, MB ChB BDS FRCS FDSRCS FRCS(Plast)

is a Consultant Craniofacial Surgeon and leads the craniofacial service at the Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. He is also a member of the multidisciplinary facial deformity service for adults, based at University College London Hospital and the Eastman Dental Hospital. In addition he regularly undertakes voluntary work in Ghana, operating and teaching reconstructive facial surgery."

 

 

Mr Simon Eccles, BDS MBBS FRCS(Eng) FRCS(Plast)

is the Secretary of the Plastic Surgery section of the Royal Society of Medicine (2008). He is a Consultant Craniofacial Surgeon at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital where he specialises in paediatric craniofacial surgery. He also works at The Charing Cross Hospital, London where he is a member of the adult head and neck and craniofacial surgery team.

 




 NEUROSURGICAL

Mr David Peterson, BSc FRCS, FRCS(SN)

is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, The Charing Cross Hospital and The Cromwell Hospital, London and an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. His interests are in Neuro-oncology, Gamma Knife treatment, Surgery for epilepsy and skull base/craniofacial surgery.

MAXILLOFACIAL

Mr Henri Thuau, MD, DDS, FDSRCS (Eng), FRCS(MaxFax)

is the Assistant Secretary of the European Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons and a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital (Craniofacial Unit).

ENT, OTOLARYNGOLOGY AND HEAD AND NECK

Mr William Grant, MCh, FRCSI, FRCSEd, FRCS(ORL)

is a Consultant Otolaryngologist/Head & Neck Surgeon, at the Charing Cross and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals,London. Special interests include endoscopic sinus surgery, rhinoplasty, head & neck surgery and paediatric ENT surgery

Mr Peter Clarke, MBChB, BSc, FRCS, FRCS(ORL)

is a Consultant Otolaryngologist/Head & Neck Surgeon at the Charing Cross and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals. He has lectured widely on his interests which include surgical voice restoration, skull base surgery, neck anatomy and neck dissection.

PAEDIATRIC

Dr Michael Markiewicz, BSc, MB BS FRCP, FRCPCH

is a Consultant Paediatrician at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and Cromwell Hospital. He is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Division of Medicine at Imperial College, London. Special interests in addition to general paediatrics include rheumatological disorders, asthma and complex allergies.

is a Consultant Paediatric Dentist at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital

is a Paediatric Orthodontist at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.

is a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Chelsea and Westmnister Hospital. He specialises in paediatric anaesthetics for craniofacial and plastic surgery amongst other areas.

Mr Colin Haylock MBE, FIMPT
is an Honorary Maxillofacial Prosthetist at Chelsea & Westminster and Cromwell Hospitals. Since his retirement from full time NHS work he volunteers his services extensively with charities abroad.
