Facing The World are committed to furthering the knowledge and understanding of craniofacial conditions and their treatment. In addition FTW is please to be able to support formal academic research undertaken by a trainee in plastic surgery. In addition this trainee acts as the volunteer Medical Co-ordinator for the elective planning of cases cases and has an opportunity to be involved patient care and operative management.
We are currently supporting a 3 year Ph.D position at Imperial College London. This is a collaboration between the Craniofacial Unit of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, the Department of Materials, and the Institute of Biomedical Engineering.
Our current Research Fellow is Reza Ghazanfar. He was appointed in 2003, and his Ph.D degree runs from 2004 to 2007. We are currently accepting applicants for this position.
This research is funded entirely separately from our general fundraising for the the treatment of children.
